Poker Flush A Well-Suited Hand

The poker flush is a popular poker hand that many players try to acquire through the draw round. The poker flush tops a poker straight and is a good play on a hunch.

The most intriguing of poker hands is the poker flush. What makes it so fascinating to the veteran as well as to the novice poker player is that it is a reliable play. For those of you who are enamored by mathematical statistics, the odds of drawing a poker flush on the deal hand are 1 in 509 chances. However, this does not preclude the possibility that a player could draw cards from the same suit, pull out a thrilling poker flush, and take home the chips.

As poker hand rankings go, the poker flush lies between the poker straight which it tops, and the poker full house which it loses to. In the grand scheme of card rankings, the poker flush is your fifth top ranking poker hand. For the record, a poker flush is all five cards from the same suit but not in sequential order. If your poker flush hand was in sequential order, you would have a poker straight flush. The poker straight flush is the second highest poker hand in the game of poker. However, it is not a common occurrence.

At that point, the player must either play or give up his poker cards. For example, if you have an A (clubs), 9 (hearts), 5 (spades), 4 (hearts) and a 2 (hearts), you might discard the A and 5 to try for a poker flush. This is sound play in video poker. In video poker, you have to stay in the game for the draw round or else you automatically lose. You can get lucky at times, you know! The poker flush is a well-suited hand and a favorite of many at the poker table.
