Poker Straight Flush Almost Unbeatable at the Poker Table

The poker straight flush is the second highest ranking poker hand one can receive at a poker table. The poker straight flush has not received the adulation other poker hands, such as four-of-a-kind and the royal flush, have received in movies and on T.V., but it sure provides an almost unbeatable poker hand for its holder.

The game of cards has been aligned with those carnival acts where a sleight of hand maneuver can deliver a winning hand. I really can’t remember a movie or television show in which a card game was won on the last draw when the hero drew a card and won the poker game with a poker straight flush. Around that poker table, there would be no one to compete with his poker hand because a poker straight flush beats any poker hand with the exception of the granddaddy of them all, the royal flush.

Neither the Maverick Brothers from the T.V. western from the late 1950’s nor the decade of the 60’s hero, James Bond, ever drew a poker straight flush to finish off his opponent. That’s too bad because, around the poker table and in the land of video poker, the straight flush has a mystery and charisma about it. The poker straight flush is an exotic play but one that guarantees its owner a big time payoff. Generally, if a player has a flush opportunity, he or she should hope the flush comes in a poker straight flush fashion.

The reason the straight flush is not popular at poker table card games in glamorous movie and television settings is because it just doesn’t occur that frequently. When it does, the holder scores big time. This win can occur at the poker table or in video poker machines in casino parlors all over the world. The odds on a poker straight flush occurring in a poker hand on a deal is 1 in 72,193 opportunities, so when you get a poker straight flush, you’ve got an almost unbeatable poker hand!
